The Thai Urological Association under the Royal Patronage (TUA) was established in July 1988. Since then the Society of Urolithiasis, the Society of Oncologic Urology, and the Thai Continence Society (ThCS) were established on behalf of the TUA. Pediatric urology in Thailand was initiated and developed by some urologic masters in medical schools including Assoc. Prof. Dr. Samrit Laornuan, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Watcharin Ariyaprakai, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sumitr Anutrakulchai, and Clinical Prof. Dr. Phichaya Sujijantararat. Dedicated urologists who worked in university and provincial hospitals organized meetings with the purpose to exchange knowledge about treating, teaching, and researching in pediatric urology. This urological team also made the First Refresher Course in Pediatric Urology in Thailand in September 2015, at The Medical Association of Thailand. That successful meeting was followed by continued collaboration over the next year and culminated with the agreement to form their own society on the final day of the TUA Annual Meeting in July 2016, at the Empress Hotel, Chiang Mai. The Thai Society for Pediatric Urology (TSPU) was born on September 24, 2016, as an official scientific society of TUA. The first committee meeting was held on December 23, 2016, in Pramongkutklao Bangkok.
